Synology DiskStation DS1817 8-Bay personal NAS system is your all-in-one solution for data storage thanks to a host of convenient features such as real-time backup saving or intuitive DSM user interface. You always need more and more storage and with this NAS system, your data are safely secured in a single location accessible from anywhere.

    Processing power
The DiskStation DS1817 has been upgraded with a quad-core Annapurna Labs Alpine AL-314 1.7 GHz CPU to make storing and controlling of your data fast and hassle-free. Thanks to efficient hardware and software optimization, the CPU achieves high read and write speeds. The tough AES-NI hardware encryption makes your data secured against any malicious threats.

    Easy assembly
The DiskStation DS1817 contains eight slots for 3.5-inch SATA 3 hard drives, with support of maximum 16 TB capacity for each HDD, or 128 TB in total. The HDDs are accessible through opening cover from the back, which is held in place by couple of screws.Additionally, the two built-in super-fast 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports offer unprecedented data transfer speeds for your business.NB: hard drives are not included.

    Ultra-quiet
No need to worry about loud and obtrusive fan noises with the standby noise of 24.2 dBA . The fan speed can be adjusted through app on your computer.

    Synology UI software
The Synology DiskStation DS1817 is powered by robust and intuitive Synology DSM UI that is prepared for work-intensive business with central management support to increase work efficiently when deploying multiple NAS systems into the network. You can centralize backup tasks for VMware, Windows, and file servers and restore data whenever you need. Great failure and disaster prevention is provided with Synology High Availability that when triggered can automatically clone over the entire system to your other NAS system quickly to prevent potential data loss.

    App central
Use your DiskStation DS1817 to the full potential with Cloud Station Suite. There are many apps ready to be used to extend capabilities of your device. For example, Synology Drive app unifies multiple file protals on NAS system so you can instantly synchronize or exchange data accros the devices. The Synology iSCSI storage fully supports most virtualization solutions to enhance work efficiency with the easy management interface. The File Station app is a web-based management tool for simple drag-and-drop operations straightaway with support for the following protocols: AFP, FTP, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, and WebDAV.

    Redundant storage
DiskStation DS1817 allows you to setup your HDDs in RAID 0/1/5/6/10 configuration to create data redundancy. The RAID 1 means that two HDD become an exact copy of each other, and so data transferred to HDD 1 is simultaneously mirrored to the HDD 2. It creates a safe-guard net for your data, as if HDD 1 fails, none of your data is lost as it is securely backed up on HDD 2. The RAID 5/6/10 work on similar concept but are more suited for multiple HDD configuration. Intelliversioning technology keeps the most important file versions to better utilize storage space.
